Apple (Fig. 37),—Flower regular. Calyx of 5 sepals. Corolla of 5 free petals, alternate with the sepals- Stamens many, sealed on the calyx. Pistil of 5 combined carpels, each with a style.

Gooseberry.—Flower regular. Calyx of 5 sepals. CoroDa of s free petals. Stamens 5, alternate with the petaJs, seated on the calyx. Pistil of 2 carpels com-i'Jned, forming a i-ceiled ovary with 2 st,^\ea.

Campanula.—Flower regular. Calyx of 5 sepals. Corolla of 5 combined petals aliernate with the sepals^ Stamens 5, alternate with the petals, seated on the top of the ovaiy. Pistil of 3 or 5 carpels combined into a 3-or 5-celled ovary, with 1 style and 3 or 5 stigmas.

Elder.—Flower regular. Calyx of 5 sepals. Corolla of 5 combined petals alternate with the sepals. Stamens 5, seated on the corolla and alternate with the petals. Pistil of a combined carpels with 2 cells and I style and stigma.

Honeysuckle—Flower irregular. Calyx with J minute teeth. Corolla of 5 petals combined in a tube. Stamens g seated on the corolla, alternate with the petals. Pistil of 3 combined carpels with 3 cells and I style and stigma.
